Slinfold Horticultural Society

now known as Slinfold Horticultural Society Garden Club.

Slinfold Horticultural Society was formed soon after the war as a charity to encourage, help and educate people in the ways of gardening. Previously it had been a "Horticultural Debating Society" Does anyone know what they used to debate?
The early flower shows used to have separate classes for amateurs and professionals, there being quite a few of the latter in the village. Nowadays we hold 3 seasonal shows when anyone is invited to take part & display their gardening, handicrafts and cookery. Note that we have a special section for children's entries which is free to enter (and awards cash prizes). The schedules for the Shows can be found be clicking the links on the left.

Between October and May, on the 2nd Thursday of each month except January, we have speakers talk on various subjects of gardening interest; meetings in the Village Hall at 7.30pm

Members get reduced rate of entry fees to shows and we have social events and outings and are investigating the possibility of bulk buying on compost etc. Let us know of any trip or outing you think might be enjoyable.

Membership of the Horticultural Society is only £5 per year, individual or £8, family membership, contact any of the committee or come along to a meeting as a visitor.
