SWEET PEA AND ROSE SHOW 2012 - Sat. 30th June
SLINFOLD VILLAGE HALL
NON-MEMBERS ARE INVITED TO ENTER
DIVISION I - ROSES
- One vase of five H.T. mixed.
- One vase of three any red variety.
- One vase of three any yellow or cream variety.
- One vase of three, any one variety, any other colour.
- One vase of five stems, miniature or patio.
- One vase of one specimen H.T.
- Three stems any cluster flowered rose.
- Three stems any other rose (e.g. old fashioned, single etc.).
- One bowl of roses, using 7 blooms, judged for quality and effect (own foliage allowed).
- Three specimens of any one H.T. variety:- bud, half open and full (one vase for each bloom).
- A single bloom, judged on scent only.
- One specimen sweet pea.
- One vase of five stems, mixed.
- One vase of five stems, pink or red.
- One vase of five stems, white or cream.
- One vase of five stems, blue or mauve.
- One vase of five stems, any other colour, one variety (including multi-coloured).
- An arrangement of sweet peas (max. 15 stems) in any container, any foliage allowed.
- One stem, judged on scent only.
- One vase of any one variety of flower (not a shrub).
- One vase of mixed flowers (8 stems)
- One vase of any flowering shrub of any one variety.
- Six pansies.
- The best flower from my garden (1 stem, single bloom or multiple florets acceptable).
- A Flowering Orchid
- A flowering pot plant.
- A foliage pot plant Please note that Rule 4 applies to the above 3 classes and all are subject to a max. 23cm (9") diameter pot.
- 1 pan cactus or succulent (pot not to exceed 20cm (8") diameter).
- Three sticks rhubarb.
- Five pods broad beans.
- Five pods peas.
- Plate of five new potatoes.
- 2 heads lettuce.
- Plate of any soft fruit, any one variety.
- A bonsai (max. height 60cm).
- A Floral Art Exhibit 'Water's Edge'. Table length 59cm (23") allowed.
- A miniature garden in a seed tray.
- A decorated T shirt
- Photo of picnic (not mounted) Max size 13cm x 18cm (5"x 7")
- A letter inviting someone to a Jubilee street party (judged on handwriting and content)
- a. Age 8 & under, 4 decorated biscuits (judged on decoration)
b. Age 9-16, 4 decorated cupcakes, entrant to bake cakes, (judged on decoration and quality of cupcake
(Trophy awarded to best item in classes 41a or b)
- Maximum weight of potatoes grown in a bucket from a seed potato supplied by us at the Spring Show (or contact Show Secretary a.s.a.p.) (Children's Potato Challenge).
- An article made from a hard material eg wood, metal, ceramic, etc. (base not to exceed 46cm [18"]).
- An original poem not to exceed 16 lines - Theme 'Jubilee'.
- A loaf of focaccia bread with sun-dried tomato
- 5 'cocktail' sausage rolls, home-made pastry.
- A custard tart approx.17-21 cm (7-8").
- Filled chocolate sponge (not fresh cream).
- A display on a small table-top or a collage on A1 paper to show a trip, outing or activity of the group. Societies Class
- Local Horticultural Societies are invited to enter any 3 of the following 5 items as a society.

DIVISION VI - HANDICRAFT
DIVISION VII - COOKERY
DIVISION VI - SPECIALS
Youth Groups Class- a. One vase, containing 3 types of flower, minimum 8 stems
- b. A plate of soft fruit (numbers as in RHS rules).
- c. A plate of 6 new potatoes.
- d. A Victoria Sponge (raspberry jam filling).
- e. A Floral Art exhibit 'Country Life' - 90cm (36") table space allowed.
Entry forms to Mr George Munden at 8, 'The Cobblers', Hayes Lane, Slinfold, before 9pm on
Thursday 28th June. (Late entries - [double fees!!] up to 9pm Friday)
Entry fees per class: Members - 25p; non-members - 35p; children's classes
free
Exhibits to be staged between 8am and 10.15am on the morning of the show
Prizes in adult classes first prize only of £1;
in children's classes: 1st - 50p; 2nd - 40p; 3rd 30p
