Spring Show Schedule

SPRING SHOW 2010 - Sat. 20th March

SLINFOLD VILLAGE HALL

NON-MEMBERS ARE INVITED TO ENTER

DIV. I - FLOWERS

  1. Vase of 5 trumpet daffodils.
  2. One specimen trumpet daffodil.
  3. Vase of 5 large-cupped narcissi.
  4. One specimen large-cupped narcissus.
  5. Vase of 5 small-cupped or pheasant eye narcissi.
  6. One specimen small-cupped or pheasant eye narcissus.
  7. Vase of 5 stems bunch flowered narcissi (multi-headed).
  8. Vase of 5 stems any double flowered narcissi/daffodils.
  9. Vase of 5 stems any miniature narcissi/daffodils.
  10. One specimen any other daffodil/narcissus which could not be entered in any of the classes above.
  11. Vase of 10 mixed daffodil and/or narcissus.
  12. Vase of 5 stems polyanthus.
  13. A bowl of growing, flowering bulbs
  14. Vase of any one variety of flowering shrub.
  15. Vase of any other one variety of spring flower.
  16. A Flowering Orchid
  17. A flowering pot plant.
  18. A foliage pot plant Please note that Rule 4 applies to the above 3 classes and all are subject to a max. 23cm (9") diameter pot.
  19. 1 pan cactus or succulent (pot not to exceed 20cm [8"] diameter). The Bill Cowan Cup will be awarded to the best single bloom exhibited in classes 1 and 2.

    DIV. II - FLORAL ART

  20. A petite arrangement 'New beginnings', not to exceed 23cm (9")
  21. Exhibit 'Fanfare to Spring', 58.4cm(23") table space allowed.

    DIV. III - HANDICRAFT

  22. A painting or drawing entitled 'Abstract'; not to exceed A3 paper (any medium)
  23. A home made necklace
  24. A photo 'Winter Scene' - max. 18 x 12.5cm (7" x 5").
  25. Any other craft item of your choice (please state if made from a kit)
  26. DIV. IV - COOKERY

  27. One jar of marmalade made from fresh citrus fruit.
  28. 3 Chocolate Chip Cookies
  29. A Tarte Tatin
  30. 3 cheese scones
  31. 3 Easter Biscuits (as recipe)
  32. Cookery should be removed from the baking tin and displayed on a plate

    DIV. V - CHILDREN'S SECTION

    Child's age will be considered in judging

  33. An item of handicraft made from a kit.
  34. A poster to advertise your '5-a-day'
  35. Age 8 and under, 4 rice crispy cakes
  36. Age 9 to 16, 4 chocolate muffins
  37. A small arrangement of spring flowers
  38. An Easter Bonnet displayed on a soft toy

  39. A trophy will be awarded for the best piece of children's handicraft in the show

Disaster Display

(Enter on day of show) Show us what went wrong in your preparations, burnt cookery, blotted painting, slug-eaten flower etc.

Entry forms to Mrs Marjorie Hone at 10 West Way, Slinfold, before 9pm on Thursday 18 th March. (Late entries - [double fees!!] up to 9pm Friday)
Entry fees per class: Members - 25p; non-members - 35p; children's classes free Exhibits to be staged between 8am and 10.15am on the morning of the show

Prizes in adult classes first prize only of £1;
in children's classes: 1st - 50p; 2nd - 40p; 3rd 30p

TROPHIES

To help fund our flower shows we need to raise some money now, so we are planning to hold a Cakes, Plants Produce & Preserves Sale at the Spring Show. We would be grateful if every member could supply something for this stall.
