Spring Show Schedule
SPRING SHOW 2008 - Sat. 29th March
SLINFOLD VILLAGE HALL
NON-MEMBERS ARE INVITED TO ENTER
DIV. I - FLOWERS
- Vase of 5 trumpet daffodils.
- One specimen trumpet daffodil.
- Vase of 5 large-cupped narcissi.
- One specimen large-cupped narcissus.
- Vase of 5 small-cupped or pheasant eye narcissi.
- One specimen small-cupped or pheasant eye narcissus.
- Vase of 5 stems bunch flowered narcissi (multi-headed).
- Vase of 5 stems any double flowered narcissi/daffodils.
- Vase of 5 stems any miniature narcissi/daffodils.
- One specimen any other daffodil/narcissus which could not be entered in any of the classes above.
- Vase of 10 mixed daffodil and/or narcissus.
- Vase of 5 stems polyanthus.
- Vase of any one variety of flowering shrub.
- Vase of any other one variety of spring flower.
- A Flowering Orchid
- A flowering pot plant.
- A foliage pot plant Please note that Rule 4 applies to the above 3 classes and all are subject to a max. 23cm (9") diameter pot.
- 1 pan cactus or succulent (pot not to exceed 20cm [8"] diameter).
The Bill Cowan Cup will be awarded to the best single bloom exhibited in classes 1 and 2.
DIV. II - FLORAL ART
- A small arrangement in a tea cup (saucer optional)
- Exhibit 'April Showers', 58.4cm(23") table space allowed.
- Novice Class, a small arrangement in an unusual container Open only to anyone who has never won first prize in a floral art class
- A painting or drawing of a landscape; not to exceed A3 paper
- A pegbag
- A photo 'Spider Web' - max. 18 x 12.5cm (7" x 5").
- One jar of marmalade made from fresh citrus fruit.
- 3 rock cakes
- A treacle tart
- 3 cheese scones Cookery should be removed from the baking tin and displayed on a plate
- An item of handicraft made from a kit.
- A poster to advertise our potato competition for the next show - A4 size
- 4 Butterfly cakes
- An arrangement of spring flowers in a jam jar A trophy will be awarded for the best piece of children's handicraft in the show

Disaster Display
(Enter on day of show) Show us what went wrong in your preparations, cake that didn't rise, blotted painting, slug-eaten flower etc.
Entry forms to George Munden, at 16 'The Cobblers' Hayes Lane, before 9pm on
Thursday 27 th March. (Late entries - [double fees!!] up to 9pm Friday)
Entry fees per class: Members - 20p; non-members - 30p; children's classes
free
Exhibits to be staged between 8am and 10.15am on the morning of the show
Prizes in adult classes first prize only of £1;
in Floral Art classes first prize only of £5
in children's classes: 1st - 50p; 2nd - 40p; 3rd 30p

To help fund our flower shows we need to raise some money now, so we are planning to hold a Cakes, Plants Produce & Preserves Sale at the Spring Show. We would be grateful if every member could supply something for this stall.
